I am Isaac Yong, a second-year MEng Computing student at Imperial College London, specialising in Visual Computing and Robotics.
Right now, a lot of my time goes into building software for robotics and education.
I am the Software Lead of First Order Robotics, where I lead the software team for the RoboCup Small Size League competition. That means working on systems that have to be practical, reliable, and fast enough to perform under real constraints.
I also built SPM Chat, a free chatbot for Malaysian students. I care a lot about making useful tools more accessible, especially when they can lower the barrier for learning.
This website is my corner of the internet for sharing:
- project updates
- technical notes
- ideas I am still figuring out
- occasional reflections on learning, robotics, and building things
What I am focused on now
Updated April 2026.
Imperial College London — Second year of the MEng Computing course, specialising in Visual Computing and Robotics. A lot of my current energy is going into building stronger fundamentals in the areas I want to work in long term.
First Order Robotics — Software Lead for RoboCup Small Size League. Right now, that means thinking about software systems that need to be reliable in practice, not just interesting on paper.
SPM Chat and personal projects — Still building tools like SPM Chat because I care about making useful software accessible. Alongside that, I am continuing to explore machine learning ideas through personal projects.
What I am interested in
- robotics
- computer vision
- machine learning
- developer tools
- education technology
What I want more of
- more writing about projects while they are still in progress
- more public notes on robotics, ML, and systems work
- more shipped things, even if they are small
I want this site to become a more honest record of what I am working on, what I am learning, and what is still unfinished.
